ONLINE DISTANCE LEARNING

Though no one could have imagined 21st-century life in a pandemic, St. Gabriel International School (SGIS) had to imagine just how education would continue as effectively. The result was SGIS’ Online Learning in an Integrated Virtual Environment (O-LIVE) program on Microsoft Teams, which has allowed Gabrielites to receive the same quality of learning and sense of community from the safety of their homes.

O-LIVE combines Synchronous and Asynchronous learning methods:

SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING

Education in which students learn from instructors in real time group classes

GUIDED STUDY SESSION PROGRAM

SGIS has a special Guided Study Session Program where students do their teacher-assigned learning activities (outside of synchronous classes) under the guided supervision of their teachers. Teachers have regular scheduled classroom time during Asynchronous Sessions to guide and help students with their assigned work and provide additional discussions when the need arises.

BUILDING A CONNECTED COMMUNITY

Now more than ever, the importance of social and emotional learning has been highlighted. At SGIS, our online school community fosters this and makes sure that the students still enjoy this connectedness through the online platforms that have become part of their New Normal. This makes it possible for students to inquire and learn together even while physically apart.

SENSE OF BELONGING

  • Collaborative learning activities in both synchronous and asynchronous classes
  • Regular student check-ins to assess well-being
  • Online Physical Education classes and school celebrations

MODERATED ONLINE CLASSROOM

  • Daily and weekly classroom schedules simulate the feel of a class day and facilitate time management as well as study skills of students
  • Teachers provide timely direct instruction
  • Teachers are on call during asynchronous sessions, which fall under SGIS’s Guided Study Session program
  • Class Advisers monitor schedules and attend to student concerns

ACTIVE COMMUNICATION PLATFORM

  • Encourages online collaboration among students and teachers in a safe environment
  • Enables students to be active participants in their learning, making it easy for them to interact and engage in discussions
  • Makes it easy for students to follow the flow of each learning activity and ask for help when needed

Parent Testimonials

ON SGIS O-LIVE

“This Pandemic brought us so much anxieties and uncertainties, but everytime I attended the online class of my son I can attest that the efforts of everyone especially GRADE 2B teachers really do well. Yes, “kids will be kids,” and though there are lazy and chaotic days for these little ones- teachers really made an effort to make it lively and more fun.

Thank You Teacher Kim, Teacher Cora, Teacher Myra and Teacher Angela for all your understanding and patience to them.

More days to come! Parents, Students, Teachers and School are on the same track with this New Normal settings. God Bless everyone and Lets all be Safe.”

I am impressed with the resilience of faculty and administrators of SGIS. While other schools are still figuring out how to go about opening the school year, SGIS already has a plan to move forward.

Thank you! I appreciate the hard work that you do to deliver quality education to my three children.”
