SGIS's Continuous Victories in Sports

To actualize the SGIS Vision of promoting holistic education, the school has worked to participate in various athletic competitions, not only among our students, but also among those from other schools. This year, we have participated locally and internationally.

July 27, 2019 - CSBL Invitational League - SGIS Hoplites won over the Pasig City Selection Team (48- 34)

The SGIS Hoplites won over the Pasig City Selection Team in the CSBL League Invitational Game held last July 27, 2019. Saelac Antje Dy, Ravin Aldrich Agon, Miguel Favila and Rodch Tumulak were chosen among the Mythical 5. Matthew Go was the Most Valuable Player of the Game (29 points, 4 Blocks).

September 28-29, 2019 - 2019 PSI Swimming Short Course

Iammejen Lopez got the 4th Place and qualified in the National Championship while Antonio Raphael Laron got medals in the different events of the Developmental Championship.

October 5 to 18, 2019 – Sent 2 Teams to the 3RD BTA Basketball Developmental League

This year, SGIS sent two (2) teams to the 3rd BTA Basketball Developmental League. The 12 and Under Division was participated in by five other teams, namely: Homeschool Global, Life Academy, St. Paul College and Our Lady of Peace School, while the 17 and Under Division was participated in by Passion, St. Paul College, La Consolacion, Philippine Cultural College and AO1. It ran from October 5, 2019 to November 30, 2019.


The SGIS Hoplites (12 and Under Division) got the second place against CCF Life Academy while the SGIS Spartans (17 and Under Division) bagged the 3rd place.

 

Mr. Christian Go has been coaching the SGIS Hoplites for the past 3 years and they had shown significant improvements in their league standing.

October 1 to 19, 2019 Pasig City Private Schools Administrators Association Sportsfest 2019

Pasig City Private Schools Administrators’ Association organizes a yearly Sportsfest among schools in Pasig City. It opens with a parade of muses and escorts from the participating schools. SGIS sent seventy-six (76) athletes to this year’s event. The teams garnered the following medals and trophies:

  • Swimming - Coach Aljimar Aming

Secondary Boys – Champion

Elementary Girls – 2nd Runner-up

  • Basketball – Coach Peter Tioseco

Secondary Girls – First Runner-up

Secondary Boys – 4th out of 25 teams

  • Badminton – Coach Joey Galindez

Singles A – Derrick Sean Garrucho – 4th

Doubles – Girls – 4th

November 9, 2019 to February 2020 – Metro Manila Basketball League 2019

This SGIS Spartans participated in this year’s Metro Manila Basketball League 2019. It was participated in by eighty-four (84) schools in Metro Manila. They were divided in twelve (12) divisions of six (6) teams each. The first placer of each division advances to semi-finals. As of today, the team is on 4- 0 standing after competing against Faith Academy, Our Lady of Perpetual Succor School and Our Lady of Peace.

November 27, 2019 Division Meet

Some of the members of the swimming team advanced to the Division Meet and brought medals to the school. They were:

  • Antonio Raphael Laron (2 Gold/3 Silver)
  • Iammejen Lopez (2 Gold/2 Silver)
  • John Benedict Santos (2 Gold/ 2 Silver/ 2 Bronze)
  • Ayra Aiesha Negrillo (1 Gold/1 Gold)
  • Chrislan Lour Clay Reyes (1 Gold)
  • Stephen Medalla (1 Gold).


Laron, Lopez and Santos will represent Pasig City in the National Capital Region (NCR) Meet.

This is in line with the school’s vision of developing holistic individuals through organizing cocurricular programs and involving them in various athletic competitions For the past twenty (20) years, SGIS has invested on facilities that will serve as the venue for training the students.
